Talk:Main Page

From SPSU Wiki

SPSU Wiki vision and Main page organization

In the original vision for the SPSU Wiki, there were three intentions stated directly:

  • Coordinating alumni groups, especially in other cities
  • List of campus construction projects and improvements (already in process)
  • An orientation to SPSU written by students for students.

It is very difficult to find a real direction for the site from the main page.. can we make a site map, maybe by using the information within the SPSU Wiki:Community Portal link as well? There are a good many areas reflected on the main page from library news to IT to school officials, but none of them helps show what all is on the site. When I first used the site nearly 6 months ago, I started clicking on the main Random page link to see if I was missing the point.

Front page revision

I don't think I should change things too drastically... I took the topics from the "New in the SPSU Wiki" and put them in categories, only allowing 5 topics or so to be in that section. Because almost none of it is new, it isn't very helpful.

I want to see if anybody will provide me any feedback before I make the changes I suggested above. Anyone want to discuss?

You can see all the recent changes on the Recent changes page if you are interested... and users could be directed to look there if that is what they are looking for. Jwiley80 20 March 2007 17:30 (EDT)

I do agree the main page of the wiki needs to be redone. Here is a list of my suggestions.
  • Top 5-10 recent changes
  • Links to each department (I believe this would create more changes to the wiki page)
  • Campus Activities (restaurants/facilities/etc.)
Does anyone if it would be possible to get a link from SPSU's main website to the SPSU's wiki?ejohnsto 26 March 2007 9:38 (EDT)

As you can see, I have changed the main page so it references and categorizes nearly every page on the site. I think the earlier version of the page was very difficult to navigate, and what users were really looking for was a directory to explain the usefulness of the site. If you have any issues with this or insight into how to make it any better, please feel free to discuss! Jwiley80 12 April 2007 00:43 (EDT)
