Talk:Commencement

From SPSU Wiki

SPSU's Website

I work as the SPSU operator two days a week as part of my computer lab assistant position, and I ran into a caller who was demanding that I provide her with information of the Summer 2007 commencement ceremony. Luckily for me, Prof. Brown made this page with all the vitals. I was wondering if this information is available on the school's website (other then just the date on the academic calendar)? As most outsiders are not going to be searching this Wiki for information (even though search results from www.spsu.edu have wiki results). I would think that SPSU needs to provide a more official form of providing this information. If this information is already provided to the graduates, or should only be provided to the graduates then I should just not worry about it.

Semi-Official Information

I'm glad the Commencement info was helpful to you. It is, of course, subject to change. (I was able to do this because I am one of the Commencement Marshals; I guess that makes the info semi-official.)

I rather hope that others at SPSU, students, faculty, and staff, will use the wiki for this sort of semi-official information. It is easy to keep up-to-date, and could be made very accessible. To continue with the Commencement example, a link to the wiki article from an "official" page would do it.

(There is a web update in the works, but I'm not sure it will solve the problem of information availability.)
