Student Orientation
From SPSU Wiki
Now that you are out of high school and don't need any more advice on that, let's have a look at some places to find info on the college experience. Here are a couple of instructional sites from wikihow about some of the aspects of the college experience:
- Enjoying student life
- Buying textbooks
- Doing well and even learning a thing or two while you're at it
- Discussions on the specific subjects you will be taking
- Other fun things and problems you may encounter in college.
A number of other sites provide helpful (and not so helpful) instructions as well. On Yahoo Answers, for instance, you can ask questions and get some very quick and detailed answers to some pretty difficult questions, like this one: How do you bathe a hamster?
For those of you interested in learning more about the world around you as a whole, social news websites are a pretty big trend as of late. These sites can serve to help you find news on the subjects you are most interested in, but because it's easy to get lost in the mix, here's a list comparing those different sites and what audience they best address. For political types interested in news trends, there are a number of other resources available as well, for instance this simple site that does a great job at explaining the U.S. Government spending budget.
For the geeks (here's a Comp. Sci. type link for supergeeks), there are a number of 'gadget' sites to chose from.
See the SPSU site on Orientation, but do you have any additional suggestions about New Student Orientation that could help new students? Write your suggestions here or create a page about it.. that's what it's for!
