SUBJECT: 2005 Teacher of the Year


Each year, the Cobb Chamber of Commerce honors Cobb County teachers and recognizes their good work educating students in this region. In 1995, the Chamber began including post-secondary institutions in the celebration of teachers. This year Dr. Nancy Reichert, Associate Professor in the Department of Humanities and Technical Communication, will represent Southern Polytechnic at these events in October. She joins the following list of distinguished Teachers of the Year from SPSU:

  • 2002 John Sweigart, Mechanical Engineering Technology Department
  • 2001 Ken Rainey, Humanities and Technical Communication Department

  • 1999 Scott Tippens, Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology Department
  • 1998 Julie Newell, Social and International Studies Department
  • 1997 Joel Fowler, Mathematics Department
  • 1996 Rich Bennett, Social and International Studies Department
  • 1995 David Brani, Mechanical Engineering Technology Department

Following recent tradition, Dr. Reichert plans to give a public presentation in spring 2006, as part of her role as Teacher of the Year.
